This year's world fly fishing championship took place in the beautiful Italian Dolomites, in the Trentino area. Thirty national teams participated in the Championships. The competition was held on the Sarca rivers - three sectors, Nights and Lake Corisello (over 2000 m.n.p.m). The dominant method of fishing was the nymph, only in some areas it was possible to fish on a dry fly. The surprise for me was that practically all teams preferred fishing on the so-called Parkinson's or an imitation of red worms. The Polish team was composed of Maciej Korzeniowski, Piotr Konieczny, Łukasz Ostafin, Michał Greszta, Grzegorz Gołofit, Marek Walczyk as the coach, and Antoni Bogdan, the performer of artificial flies. The team came in 7th place, after the medal fight for the last turn. The places of the Poles are individually Maciek 45, Piotr 60, Łukasz 48, Michał 15 and Grzegorz 6. The competition was of a very high level and the struggle in the sectors was extremely balanced. The first place was taken by the Spanish team, the second Czech team and the third Italian team. The representative of Spain David Garcia Ferreras was in the first place, the second place belonged to the representative of Finland Jyrki Hiltunen and the third place went to the representative of the hosts Andrea Pirone. The result of the Polish team should be assessed well. However, we remain unsatisfied, because until the last round we had a chance to win both team and individual medal. Unfortunately, there was little luck in the draw.
